About Me

My name is Lisa Spangler. I am a Certified Small Animal Massage Practitioner. I received my education and training through the Northwest School of Animal Massage. I am well-versed in a variety of techniques for both maintenance and rehabilitation massage. My specialties include senior dogs, and canine hospice, and end-of-life care, although I love working with dogs and cats in all stages of life.

I have cared for animals all my life. As a child and young adult, cats were my constant companions. I adopted my first dog while volunteering with my daughter at the Boulder Valley Humane Society in Colorado. Murphy, a senior Shih Tzu, was the beginning of a long line of furry family members, all loved and spoiled, many of them joining our family in their senior years. I have been a volunteer with Old Dog Haven as a Final Refuge Foster Home since 2011, having said goodbye to our most recent foster, Chewy, in May 2022 as he peacefully crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 

 

In addition to being an animal massage practitioner, I have a BA in Social Work from Pacific Lutheran University and an MSW from Florida State University. I was a geriatric and hospice social worker for many years. Small animal massage allows me to combine my experience and passion for caregiving, seniors, and healthcare, with my love for dogs. I value each individual animal I meet, along with their caregiver. I find my greatest joy in connecting with animals and their people.

 

I live in Steilacoom with my husband Tim and dogs Bella and Cody. In my free time, I enjoy visiting my adult kids in New York and Los Angeles, outdoor activities, traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
